ANPRS cameras snap 3 billion number plates per year
August 9, 2009 6:55 pm AutosData obtained under the freedom of information act reveals that ANPRS cameras are taking photographs of 3 billion number plates every year. There is now an extensive network of cameras across the U.K. which are recoring our evey move. Photograph numbers have rising one thousand per cent since 2007. Each of the 34 million cars on our roads are captures on average 90 times per year and the information is kept on police databases for a minimum of two years. Some complain of a police state but the authorities say they are vital for detecting and capturing known criminals and offenders.
