How to Choose Landscape Architecture Firms

I know that landscape architects need to have a degree and be licensed, but I am not sure what else I should look for. I think I will ask for examples of their past projects to get a better idea about what they do. Then I may be able to see which firm’s work is more in line with my likes and dislikes and the needs of the project.
