Abrasive Flap Wheels are abrasive wheel varieties created from uneven flaps that are expanding from the center. A flap wheel is composed of two basic components, specifically the wheel’s center and the abrasive used. The flap wheels’ external part can have diameters that range from four to twenty-four inches, or larger sometimes. The center part of the flap wheel secures the center flaps together at the edge. The manner in which the flaps are held together defines the arbor of the wheel. A number of methods can be used to secure the center flaps together but the glue-and-adhesive combination is the most common. There are different materials that can be used to create flaps for different flap wheel purposes. Flap wheels are generally used for de-burring, grinding, and polishing such as buffing, and plating.
